At about 8.35pm on Friday 20 March 2015, the ambulance service were called to Robert Hall Street, Ordsall, Salford, following reports a man had been stabbed.
When paramedics arrived they discovered an 18-year-old man with serious wounds to his leg. He was taken to hospital where he remains, awaiting further medical treatment.
It is believed the incident may have occurred in the Colman Gardens area, and the victim may have collapsed before he was found.
Three men have been arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding and bailed pending further inquiries.
Detective Constable Cathy Blain of Salford CID, said: “This was a nasty attack during which a weapon was used on a young man who is lucky the injuries were not more severe and he did not lose his leg.
“We are now appealing to anyone who either witnessed the stabbing itself, or who knows the identity of the offenders, to come forward.
“Robert Hall Street is one of the main thoroughfares through Ordsall and there may well be people who saw what happened and have vital information.
“Again, I would appeal to anyone who knows anything to come forward.”
