Driver’s lucky escape as car flips on side in Swinton

Fire crews helped rescue a driver when their car flipped onto its side in Swinton in the early hours of this morning.

Police, ambulances and firefighters were called to Pendlebury Road at 3.25am today, Monday 20 July.

It’s thought the accident happened when the car hit a bollard and spun onto its side in the middle of the residential street.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing the car ‘smoking’ as it crashed, sparking fears that the driver may have been trapped inside a vehicle on fire.

No-one was seriously hurt and fire crews made the road safe before it was re-opened.
