Two months of Chapel Street contraflow roadworks to start on Sunday 26 July

Traffic contraflows will be put in place on Chapel Street in the Manchester-bound direction for four weeks from Sunday 26 July.

Work was due to start on Sunday 19 July but delays over traffic light scheduling pushed the plans back a week.

A full-time contraflow, where vehicles share the opposite side of the road with traffic moving in the opposite direction, will be in place between Oldfield Road and Trinity Way until Monday 24 August.

From then, the contraflow will switch to the Salford-bound side of Chapel Street for another four weeks.

Urban Vision say there will be access for pedestrians to their homes and shops.

“We apologise for any inconvenience experienced during these essential works.
