A touch of Hollywood glamour saw pupils become film stars for a charity fashion show at Bridgewater School in Worsley.
The theme of Movie Mania involving students aged from seven to 18 was a box office hit with £1,506 raised for St Ann’s Hospice.
Staff, parents, governors and local businesses all played a part, bringing the total raised by the school for the charity over the last decade to an impressive £18,704.
The Cassie Lomas Makeup Academy gave their services free of charge, while art and design technology students made backdrops and drama and music teachers helped with choreography.
The school also has a music and art showcase each May as part of its fundraising programme with students visiting St Ann’s regularly to entertain day care patients and assist with its summer and winter fairs.
Sharon Minta, Head of Sixth Form, said: “It’s vital the ‘fear’ is taken out of the idea of a hospice and our students come to see St Ann’s as a happy, friendly place.
“Fundraising isn’t just about raising money, it’s also about raising the profile of the good work done by St Ann’s among our students, their families and the local community. It’s also a fantastic way of enabling students of all ages to work together on a worthwhile project. ”
