Irlam Red Watch act to knock on the door to help save man’s life

The Irlam Red Watch fire crew came to the rescue on Sunday 9 August to help save a man’s life.

A gentleman knocked on the fire station door at 10am to ask for help with a man who was suffering chest pains in the nearby Royal Arms public house on Liverpool Road.

The fire crew share the building with the Irlam and Cadishead branch of North West Ambulance Service.

SalfordOnline.com spoke to a member of Red Watch who told us: “A gentleman called at the station looking for a paramedic to assist the the man suffering with chest pains.

“However the ambulance crews had already been called out on another emergency.

“Our crew are trained in first aid and with the premises being in close proximity we acted swiftly.

“The men have the right skills to respond to situations like this and gave the man first aid until the ambulance services arrived shortly after.

“He was taken to Salford Royal Hospital for treatment, and we are just happy that we could provide some support for this gentleman.”
