Salford power cut hits 285 homes and businesses – repairs ongoing

Around 285 residential and business properties lost power in the Chapel Street area of Salford today.

At around 8.30am on Friday 14 August a high voltage fault on an underground cable knocked the electricity off in the centre of the city.

It’s affecting a large swathe of streets between Salford Central Station and the River Irwell, including New Bailey Street, Chapel Street, Trinity Way, Clowes Street and Dearmans Place.

Digital agency Return on Digital, based at the Deva Centre Business Park on Trinity Way, tweeted this morning: “The #Manchester power cut has left our office in darkness!”

Engineers are on the way to the site to assess the situation, said Electricity North West (ENW).

Update: As of 10am Trinity Way properties are back online, say ENW.

Around 125 customers will have to wait until lunchtime before engineers can fix the issue.
