The changing face of Salford will be brought to life at a one-off photography exhibition.
Salix Homes is hosting a one-day exhibition – Our Salford: Bygones and New Beginnings – to celebrate the city’s social housing through the years.
The free event takes place at the historic Ordsall Hall, Salford, on Friday, October 30 and will focus on Salford’s homes and communities in the past, present and future.
Visitors will be able to take a trip down memory lane and browse old photographs of streets and communities in years gone by as well as catch a first-look at some of Salix Homes’ exciting regeneration schemes and plans for the future.
Lee Sugden, Salix Homes chief executive, said: “Salford’s strong-knit communities, past and present, make this city what it is today, so we’d love the people of Salford to join us for a nostalgic trip down memory lane to look at some of our homes and estates in years gone by and celebrate the next stage of Salford’s exciting future with us.
“We’ve got some fascinating old photographs showing just how much Salford has changed over the years and we’re now in the midst of another pivotal era for the city, so come and celebrate the changing face of Salford with us.”
The exhibition will mark the transfer of 8,500 homes from Salford Council to Salix Homes, which took place earlier this year, and has unlocked £75m funding to invest in improving homes and communities in Salford over the next five years.
The event promises to be a fun day out for the whole family with Halloween themed children’s activities, competitions, an interactive exhibition and the chance to chat with our employees about the exciting investment plans for the city.
The exhibition, which features a collection of images from Salford Local History Library as well as photographs donated by the public, will run from 11am till 2pm and everyone is welcome
