Police search for suspected ‘stabbing victim’ in Swinton

Police are looking for a man who is thought to have been stabbed after an argument at a house in Swinton.

Officers were called intially to a domestic incident at an address on Moorside Road at 3.50am this morning, Saturday 28 March.

Police earlier cordoned an area of the street near the junction of Shakespeare Road and are going house to house making enquiries.

Two estranged partners are understood to have returned home after a night out along with a male friend. There is understood to have been some tension between the three people.

The ex-partners argued, but when the woman went upstairs the two men also argued, ending in the male attacking his friend.

Reports in the community suggest the man was stabbed twice in the chest, but did not immediately seek hospital treatment.

There has so far been no sign of the victim and efforts to locate the man have not been successful.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police stressed the investigation was still in its early stages to uncover the exact circumstances.

“At this stage officers have been unable to locate the suspected victim but we are going house to house as well as conducting hospital checks.”

There was no weapon found at the address, say police.

There is also no suggestion of any connection to two linked stabbings in Lower Broughton and Pendlebury last weekend.
