AFC Montons young A team made a successful progression into the semi finals of the Bridgewater Cup with an exciting fixture against Leigh Athletic A. After dominating the early possession in the game Monton conceded a goal after some indifferent defending but Montons Pat White levelled the scores with a well taken finish.
The Ammies Scott Foulds then put Monton into a half time lead with a superb strike to set up a thrilling second half and saw the Ammies pressing for a third decisive goal but the visitors maintained a grip on the game and managed to find an equaliser to send the game into extra time.
However, Monton stepped up the pace throughout the extra thirty minutes and after Danny Alogba was tripped in the Leigh penalty area Harry Stevenson coolly despatched the resulting spot kick and put Monton back into the lead.
Montons Joe Hingira scored the fourth goal with a fine finish after some neat close control to send the Ammies into the semi final.
