New Salford Health Boss announced

Salford Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has today announced its new Chief Accountable Officer.

Anthony Hassall, 40, currently Executive Director of Strategy and Organisational Development at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, is likely to take up his post later this year.

Anthony – who has lived in Salford for a number of years – has lengthy experience in developing strong, successful, strategic partnerships with health and social care organisations.

Previous roles include a number of senior roles in hospitals, primary care, the Department of Health, Cheshire and Merseyside Strategic Health Authority and a secondment to a mental health organisation in Massachusetts, USA.

Speaking about his appointment, Mr Hassall said: “I am very excited about this new position and I look forward to working with local people, GPs and the CCG’s Governing Body and staff team to build on an already-strong position.

“These are exciting times for Salford CCG and the NHS. I am eager to play my part.”

Dr Hamish Stedman, Salford GP and Chair of Salford CCG, said: “I am delighted to welcome Anthony Hassall on behalf of the Governing Body and the CCG as a whole.

“Anthony has clear experience and a strong record in delivering public and private partnerships, and transformational change across many organisations. He has a passionate belief in the power of staff and patient engagement in delivering lasting and sustainable programmes of work.

“There was serious competition for this role but I am confident we have appointed the right person.”

Mr Hassall replaces the current Chief Accountable Officer, Alan Campbell, 59, who announced his retirement last month after 24 years’ NHS service.
