Pal’s appeal to find family of Salford man Barry Curran, 50

The friend of a man who died in Swinton has joined a police appeal to find his family.

50-year-old Barry Curran, who is believed to have been born in Ordsall, passed away at his home on Bain Street, off Chorley Road, on Saturday 13 September.

Police have confirmed that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

But no next of kin have yet come forward.

Neighbour John Ryan knew Barry for around two years until his untimely death.

“No one deserves to be buried with no one there, that’s what I fear most for him,” said John.

“I think he lived in Ordsall for the first seven years of his life, and spent some time in the Irlams o’th Height area before moving to Swinton.

“He was a character, it was hard not to like him.

“He was funny and intelligent.

“He had a dog called Axel, who he loved, and he was a big Manchester United fan.

“He sadly lost his father Bernard, who lived in Weaste, in February this year.

“I saw him almost daily as I live some 60 yards away.

“Sadly I was in hospital for four days and when I came home I went round only to find out he’d died within 24 hours.”

It’s thought Barry may have a brother living in Salford, and a sister called Linda who may have moved out of the area.

Anyone who has information is asked to contact the Police Coroner’s Office at Bolton on 0161 856 4685.
