The Met Office is predicting rainstorms sweeping north into Salford throughout Wednesday afternoon and into Thursday morning.
Persistent and at times heavy showers are expected to spread from south to north during the day tomorrow and affecting much of the country.
As nuch as 30mm of rain is predicted with the knock-on effect of surface flooding and travel delays.
Strong and gusty winds are also expected as a complex area of low pressure deepens and pushes north.
Rain should persist into Thursday, predict forecasters.
A deepening area of low pressure will move east throughout the night, bringing westerly gusts of 40-50 mph, while higher ground and exposed areas could see blasts up to 55 mph.
The Met Office has warned that public should be aware of strong gusts and cold winds, particularly during rain showers.
