Merseyside Police is appealing for information after a 30-year-old man escaped from lawful custody in Fazakerley today (Thursday, 17 September).
At about 12.25am a report was received from prison officers that Thomas Quinn, 30, of Hall Lane, Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester had escaped from their custody in Aintree University Hospital where he was receiving treatment.
Quinn had been remanded in custody at HMP Liverpool by Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court on 7 September 2015 , where he was awaiting a court appearance for robbery offences and was taken for routine treatment for a hand injury on Wednesday, 16 September.
Patrols attended, an extensive search of the area is underway and CCTV is being sought.
Quinn is described as being white, 5ft 9ins tall and of slight to medium build with brown hair and a tribal tattoo on his right arm. He was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt, grey tracksuit bottoms and navy Adidas trainers and had a bandage on his right hand.
Quinn is known to have links to various location across Greater Manchester, North Wales and Ireland.
An investigation into the full circumstances of the incident is on-going.
