Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was found dead in the Manchester Ship Canal in Peel Green, Eccles.
Michael Gibney, 34, originally from Baguley, was sadly discovered in the water on the afternoon of Friday 11 September 2015.
At around 1.15pm that day, police cordoned off a small patch of grass leading down to the canalside off Langland Drive, an area popular with dog walkers and families.
Detectives believe there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
But they are trying to trace his final movements and need to hear from any members of the public who believe they may have seen Michael in the Patricroft area around 9pm on Thursday 10 September 2015.
Michael is described as white, around 6ft tall, medium build, with fair-coloured hair.
He was wearing a black Nike Air hooded jacket, grey Adidas tracksuit bottoms and grey Adidas trainers.
Detective Sergeant Peter Morris said: “We are trying to trace the last movements of Michael before he died, and we know that he was seen in the Eccles the night before he was found.
“If you believe you may have seen Michael in the Patricroft area on Thursday night or in the early hours of Friday morning, please contact police and let us know what you saw.”
