The 50-year-old man, who was driving a small white Peugeot van, was stopped by armed police at around 4.15pm on Tuesday 31 March.
Armed officers pulled him from the van and took him into police custody.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed the man had been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with a shooting at a car wash in Wigan on Monday 31 March.
Earlier today police linked the shooting with a hand grenade attack on a house on Formby Road in Duchy, Salford.
Drug dealer Ryan Coward, who is serving a prison sentence in Scotland, has been named as the former occupier of the house.
Detectives believe four linked attacks involving machetes, shotguns and now a hand grenade are the work of feuding rival gangs in Salford.
