Salford teenage fundraising superstar Ethan Evans has bagged another award: this time it’s official recognition from Salford City Council of his good deeds in the face of adversity.
Earlier this year 13-year-old Ethan told SalfordOnline.com exclusively how he’d woken one morning terrified and unable to move, fearing he’d had a stroke.

It emerged that Ethan had contracted a rare form of ‘hemiplegic’ migraine, something he is struggling to shake off so he can return to his beloved sport of swimming.
Ethan raised a staggering £15,000 in the last two years for charities such as St Ann’s Hospice, Athsma UK and The Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, as well as collecting over 100 kilograms of food to donate to Salford Food Bank.
He has achieved all this whilst forging a promising career in swimming, becoming Lancashire County Champion and runner up in the North West region last year.
His ultimate aim of competing in the 2024 Olympics may be on hold with illness, but the teenager has vowed to come back stronger than ever.
Another first for the schoolboy was the Ceremonial Mayor of Salford’s Citizen’s Award.
It is the first award Councillor Peter Dobbs has presented in his year of office.
Cllr Dobbs said: “Ethan has overcome many obstacles in his life and still finds time to help others, he is an inspirational boy. It was an absolute pleasure to meet him and present the award and I wish him all the best for the future.”
