Online shopping tech firm Formisimo is celebrating winning a £30,000 package of business support at this year’s Venturefest.
The MediaCityUK-based company says it will use the funding to develop its new product, which can predict whether or not a consumer will complete an online purchase.
Formisimo saw off competition from eight of the region’s most innovative businesses to win the Innovation Showcase award.
The event, organised by Business Growth Hub, was attended by over 700 businesses including 56 exhibitors.
Last year’s winner Abdul Alim, founder of real-time dining offers firm OfferMoments, said: “Winning at Venturefest changed everything.
“The Business Growth Hub’s extensive networks and connections put us in touch with a number of other businesses and we are now at a point where we have built one of the most powerful billboard solutions for retailers looking to increase their customer base.”
Lee Frater, manager at Business Growth Hub, said: “The main objective of Venturefest was to make businesses aware of the support that is available to them, whether they are just starting up or already established and looking to take their business to the next level.
“One of the key things that will transform the way that businesses operate is technology.
“It helps save time, increases flexibility and, most importantly, encourages companies to become more innovative and therefore productive.”
Speaking at the event Sir Howard Bernstein, chief executive of Manchester City Council, said: “Greater Manchester’s creative, technology and science-based industries are increasingly at the heart of our economic growth strategy.
“These key sectors have developed over the years and we must not rest on our laurels, but provide a platform for these businesses to develop even further.”
