Police launch probe after man, 21, shot in the leg in Hulme

Police have launched an investigation after a 21-year-old man was shot in the street in broad daylight in Hulme, Manchester.

Armed officers were called to Clarendon Street at 6.25pm on Sunday 27 September to reports of multiple shots fired.

The victim suffered a gunshot wound to his leg.

Police blocked off the street and the man was treated at the scene before he was taken to hospital.

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Chief Superintendent Wasim Chaudhry said: “This is a very worrying incident during which a young man has been left with a serious wound to his leg.

“Although we are in the early stages, I want to assure everybody that a full investigation has been launched.

“In the meantime we have stepped up patrols in the area and if anybody has any concerns or information about what happened then I would urge them to either call the police or approach one of the officers who are out on
patrol.”
Anybody with information should contact police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
