A building caught ablaze today on the Weaste trading estate in Salford.
At around 12.45pm on Monday 28 September large plumes of acrid black smoke were thrown into the air, drifting across the nearby M602 motorway.
“There’s a huge fire at side of my house in the factories with things exploding and the smoke is pretty bad,” said one eyewitness.
It appears to be the building behind Chester Chew’s heating contractors, next door to North West Radiators and Claremont Garages.
The smoke could be seen as far away as Salford Quays.
Greater Manchester Fire sent four fire engines to the scene and moved quickly to send workers at nearby businesses away from the blaze.
There are no reports of any injuries and it’s understood all staff were able to get out of the building safely before the fire broke out.
The North West Motorway Police warned drivers to take care on the approach near Junction 3 of the Manchester-bound motorway.
