Appeal as 78-year-old pedestrian Joseph Hurst killed in Bolton


Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly man was killed in a trafffic accident in Bolton.

At around 8pm on Wednesday 1 April a Skoda Fabia was driving along Wigan Road towards Bolton centre when it collided with 78-year-old Bolton man Joseph Alan Hurst.

Joseph suffered a fatal head injury and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Police Constable Peter Cunningham from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This is a truly devastating time for Joseph’s family and we are supporting them as best we can with the help of specialist officers.

“We are carrying out an investigation to establish the full facts and circumstances surrounding this collision last night and are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident.”
