A nuisance order has been served on Bowlers nightclub in Trafford Park.
Salford City Council served the abatement notice on Friday 2 October, under the Environmental Protection Act 1980, after a series of complaints from Salford residents about excessive noise from the venue.
The council has powers to take action on behalf of their residents even if the nuisance originates in another local authority area.
It means further legal action can be taken if the venue continues to be a nuisance to residents living in the city.
Councillor Gena Merrett, Executive Lead Member for Housing and Environment at Salford City Council, said: “It is not fair that people should have to put up with loud thumping noise when they are trying to sleep.
“Many of the people who complained were families with small children who could not settle until the early hours on the morning when the music stopped.
“We totally support people having a good night out, but not when it is at the expense of our residents.”
The council will now monitor the venue and take further action if required.
