Several thousand pounds stolen in attack on Walkden shop worker

A four-figure sum running into several thousand pounds was stolen when a woman was attacked in broad daylight in Walkden this week, Greater Manchester Police have confirmed.

The victim was leaving the Coral bookmakers on Bolton Road in Walkden town centre when she was approached by two men, who had their faces covered.

One held on to her arm, while the other grabbed cash – understood to be half a day’s takings from the bookmakers.

It happened at around 2.20pm on Monday 5 October.

The woman was left in a state of shock after the attack, and was taken to hospital as a precaution.
