Retail giant Marks and Spencer is planning to open a new food store in Walkden, a licence application reveals.
The application to Salford City Council states a two-storey store is expected to open at the Walkden Town Centre shopping mall by the end of December 2016.
Opening times would be 6am to midnight, seven days a week.
A customer cafe is due to open on the ground floor with the retail area extending onto a newly-built mezzanine level.
Marks and Spencer have applied for an alcohol licence 6am to midnight daily.

CSP Retail, which markets empty shop units for rent at Walkden Town Centre, lists the 8,767sq ft Unit G1A named in the application as ‘Under Offer’.
While centre managers Derwent Estates are remaining tight-lipped for the moment, Marks and Spencer confirmed the move to SalfordOnline.com.
An M&S spokesperson said: “We’re excited to be opening an M&S Simply Food store and bringing our product range to customers in Walkden Town Centre.”

The high-street retailer has also recently confirmed it is to open a Simply Foods store in Chorlton, Manchester.
So it appears Greater Manchester is a strong part of the Marks and Spencer strategy for food expansion.
A representation period for Salford councillors to consider the application will run until 4pm on Tuesday 25 October.
