65-year-old man dies in tragic Salford Quays crash


A 65-year-old man has sadly died after taking ill while driving near Salford Quays.

The man was driving a silver Citroen C1 along Waterfront Quay, off Trafford Road, when he took ill and lost control of the vehicle.

The car crashed into a road barrier near the Salford Quays Metrolink tram stop.

A witness called police to the scene at around 3.05pm today, Friday 16 October, who in turn called paramedics.

No other cars were involved.

The man was treated at the scene by ambulance crews but he sadly passed away a short while later.

Greater Manchester Police are treating the incident as a tragic accident.

A file is now being prepared for the Coroner’s Office.
