Bonfire night events in Salford

Salford wants to make sure bonfire night goes with a bang for all the right reasons.

The city is holding two free events so people can enjoy the celebrations in a safe environment.

The fun begins on Thursday 5 November at Buile Hill Park bonfire – where up to 12,000 people are expected to attend.

And 4,500 people will watch the skies light up at Irlam Fireworks on Saturday 7 November at Prince’s Park.

At both events bonfires will be lit at 7pm and fireworks will start at 7.30pm. Funfairs will warm up the crowds from 5pm.

Councillor David Lancaster, Deputy City Mayor at Salford City Council, said: “I’d recommend people do not spend their money on fireworks and come to one of our free events instead.

“They both promise to be safe, fun-filled family nights out – which will definitely go with a bang.”

The events are being held as part of Operation Treacle which sees partners such as local authorities, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and Trading Standards work together to lessen the impact of bonfire night on communities and reduce fire-related injuries.
