Warning in Irlam after report Audi driver tried to snatch 10-year-old boy

Police are investigating a report that a man in a black Audi tried to grab a 10-year-old boy and force him into a car in Irlam.

At around 4pm on Tuesday 8 December the schoolboy was walking along Swallow Drive near the Tiger Moth pub on his way to the shops when he was approached by a driver.

It was reported that the man got out of the vehicle, grabbed the boy and told him ‘Get in the car’.

The boy managed to pull away and ran back home.

He was not reported to be hurt but was left with marks on his arms and was extremely distressed.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed they had received a report of a suspicious male in the area and were investigating the circumstances.

The suspect is described as being black, in his 30s, wearing a black tracksuit and black and white Nike trainers, with large black Afro-style hair with a line cut into it.

He spoke with an English accent.

The victim did not recognise the man and had not seen him in the area before, family said.

Police said they would increase patrols in the local area and were going over CCTV footage.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Greater Manchester Police on 101.
