Police hunt man with Salford accent who chased woman ‘asking for a quickie’

Police are appealing for the public’s help to identify a man who chased a 20-year-old woman who was walking her dog.

The victim was walking her dog along Ambleside Road in Flixton at around 4.30pm on Saturday 12 December when the man stepped out from behind some bushes.

He asked her ‘Do you fancy a quickie?’, prompting the terrified victim to turn and run away, with the offender chasing behind her.

The suspect is described as being around 6ft tall with a large or muscular build, between 20 and 30 years old and spoke with a Salford accent.

He was wearing a black jacket with pale fur trim around the hood, black trousers and black Nike trainers.

The woman tripped and fell after being chased and was only saved by her black Labrador who growled and barked, scaring the man away.

Detective Constable Andrew Warren said: “This has been recorded as a common assault, but there was a very real possibility that this could have been more serious had her dog not come to her defence.

“The victim has sustained some minor injuries, but was shaken by the experience.

“Thankfully attacks like this are rare, and there is nothing to suggest that this is part of a wider threat to the public.

“There is no series of similar incidents as far as we know, but it is still important that we identify this man.

“Anyone who was in the area at the time, or who believes they saw anything which may assist our investigation, should contact police.”

Local police are fully aware of the suspect’s description and will remain vigilant while patrolling the area, said Greater Manchester Police.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
