Drug arrests and cars seized in Salford raid

Two men have been arrested for drugs offences and two cars seized after police raided a house in Salford.

Officers, backed by three Tactical Aid Unit vans, swooped on a semi-detached house on Brookfield Avenue at 1.25pm today.

Two units blocked off the quiet cul-de-sac near Salford Royal Hospital just as a silver Hyundai Accent was getting ready to drive away.

They stopped the car, and a forensics team in blue gloves searched the vehicle while officers put the driver in handcuffs.

One eyewitness said: “We’ve had new neighbours who have been [at the house] since the start of the year.

“Suddenly all these police swarmed into the road and blocked off the avenue.

“This is such a quiet little street, I’ve never seen anything like it in my life.”

Pictures from the scene show a silver car and a black car being loaded onto removal trucks and towed away.

The two suspects are now being questioned on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.

Enquiries are ongoing.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Greater Manchester Police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
