A woman has has died after falling from the Barton high-level bridge on the M60 motorway.
Police, fire and ambulances were scrambled to the scene at the M60 Junction 10 at around 9.15pm on Monday 20 June.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed this afternoon that a 37-year-old woman had passed away after falling from the bridge, and the woman’s family were being supported by specialist officers.
The police helicopter NPAS Barton was also drafted in for operational support.
North West Motorway Police closed two lanes anticlockwise between Junctions 11 and 10 after reports that a woman had been seen on the wrong side of the railings.
A black Peugeot car was seen abandoned on the hard shoulder.

Sergeant Martin Thomasson from GMP’s Salford Division said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman at this tragic time.”
