Man jailed for 20 weeks for breaking Little Hulton injuction

A man banned from parts of Little Hulton under a civil injuction has been jailed for 20 weeks.

Patrick McCann, 30, was found guilty at Manchester Crown Court of going into Captain Fold Road and Gorse Drive, two locations he’s not allowed to enter.

McCann was also found guilty of making threats to a 40-year-old woman.

Greater Manchester Police slapped bans on 13 people in the Little Hulton area in the wake of shootings, stabbings and violence linked to drug dealing and intimidation.

The injuctions prevent any of those named from being found with weapons, including bats, hammers, wooden sticks, or knives, as well as any action causing fear, alarm or distress.

Superintendent Mark Kenny of Salford division said: “These injunctions were put in place after a series of violent incidents in Salford that we were determined to put a stop to.

“Today’s sentencing demonstrates our determination to hold to account those who cause misery in the community.

“I would encourage members of the public to inform us if any of these injunctions are breached, so we can take positive action.”

“I want to remind people that they can come and speak to our officers to report breaches of the injunctions or alternatively they can call Crimestoppers and remain completely anonymous.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
