Salford City Academy students celebrate GSCE results


Students are celebrating today at Salford City Academy after receiving their GCSE results.

40% of students gained five or more A*-C grades including English and maths.

Executive Principal of Salford City Academy, Helen Mackenzie OBE said:

“I am delighted with the progress that students are making and it is a pleasure to celebrate the academy’s stable position as a good school. My thanks go to all students, staff and families for their hard work and dedicated support to allow them to achieve their goals.”

High achieving students included:

Head Boy Mohammed Abu-Dakka who achieved 3 A*s (Chemistry, Physics and Home Language Arabic), 6 As (Maths, Further Maths, Biology, French, Citizenship and Geography), and 3 Bs (English Language, English Literature and PE).

Head Girl Charlotte Mechan who achieved 2 A*s (Psychology and English Literature), 7 As (Maths, English Language, Chemistry, Physics, Music, Biology and Citizenship), 2 Bs (Further Mathematics and PE).

Julia Chrzanowska, who moved to the UK only 3 years ago, achieved 1 A* (Home Language Polish), 6 As (Maths, Core Science, Additional Science, Business, Citizenship and Geography), 4 Bs (English Literature, Further Maths, Sport, Media Studies) and 1 C (English Language).

Mohammed said: “I’m really pleased about my Physics and Chemistry and excited about moving on to college. I’m going to work even harder to achieve my goals.”

Commented Charlotte: “I’m happy with everything I got, especially the A*s as I loved English Literature and Psychology was a surprise!”

Of her achievements, Julia said: “I’m so proud of myself as I did my best. I got my friend to open my results and tell me if I got the grades for college, which I did! I’m most proud of my B in English Literature as I have lived in this country and learnt the language in just three years.”
