North West Motorway Police have closed a busy motorway link road near Junction 14 of the clockwise M60 after a serious accident.
Five vehicles, including a blue Peugeot, a silver flatbed lorry and a Vauxhall Astra van collided near the A580 East Lancashire Road slip road at around 8.41am this morning, Monday 20 July,
One male driver suffered serious head and neck injuries.
Paramedics found him unconscious and bleeding from the head at the scene.
He was treated on the roadside before being taken to Salford Royal Hospital.
A female driver also sustained injuries from whiplash.
Highways England say the slip road will remain closed until at least 2pm today while Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit conduct an investigation.
