M602 closed after crash between van and car, fuel spill

There are long delays on the M602 westbound after it was closed after an accident between a car and a van.

Police were called to the scene at 8pm tonight, between Junction 2 at the A576 Gilda Brook Road and Junction 1 for Eccles.

Highways England reports that the M602 is closed westbound between Junctions 2 and 1.

The westbound entry slip road at Junction 2 from the A576 Gilda Brook Road is also closed.

Greater Manchester Police traffic officers are co-ordinating the clear-up of a fuel spillage at the scene.

It’s the second oil spill of the day after an accident on the M602 at around 9am this morning.

It is not known at this stage the extent of any injuries.

The road is expected to re-open by around 10.15pm.
