Boy hurt in Salford hit and run

A young boy received serious injuries in a hit and run in Salford last night.

Police, fire crews and ambulances were called to Tootal Drive, near the junction with Glendore Road, at 8.05pm on Friday 11 September.

They found the boy, who is believed to be under 8 years old, with serious injuries, although they are not considered to be life-threatening.

He is understood to have suffered a badly broken leg in the smash.

Shocked passersby reported how the driver of the car got out of his vehicle but when he couldn’t get the little boy up, drove off instead.

This has not yet been confirmed by police.

Officers closed the road and went door to door making enquirires.

The car is believed to be dark-coloured, but details are sketchy given that the driver failed to stop.

A spokesperson for the force told SalfordOnline.com that no arrests had been made.

“Enquirires are ongoing to locate the driver,” he said.

“Anyone with a description of the car, or any more information, is urged to call Greater Manchester Police on 101.”
