FA Cup: Record 5-0 win sees Salford City through

A little FA Cup magic is creeping into the story at Salford City as they dispatched Whitby Town 5-0 in the first qualifying round.

After a 1-1 draw against the North Yorkshire side on Saturday 12 September, Morley and Johnson’s side had to make a 120-mile journey up the M62 to face replay death or glory.

A hat trick by James Poole, and strikes by Jordan Hulme and right back Elliot Kebbie in front of a tranche of loud travelling fans sees Salford safely through to the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.

For entertainment value alone the performance was one of The Ammies’ best yet, with confidence so high in front of the Whitby goal that Poole even whipped out an attempted bicycle kick in the 70th minute.

The scoreline equals the best so far for the first qualifying round of the FA Cup.

Curzon Ashton will travel to Moor Lane for the second FA Cup qualifying round on Saturday 26 September.

The road to Wembley starts here.
