Fire breaks out in Manchester flat

A fire broke out at a flat near Mancunian Way this morning, Tuesday 22 September.

The blaze started in the kitchen of a second-floor flat on Blantyre Street at around 6.15am.

Two fire engines, one from Moss Side and the second from Manchester Central responded to the call.

It’s thought food in an oven caught ablaze but was out by the time emergency crews arrived.

No-one was injured, however firefighters spent 15 minutes removing smoke from the building using a positive pressure ventilation fan to remove heat and smoke from the building.
