Duchy Street drugs discovered after elderly woman robbed in Salford


Police discovered drugs and cash at a property in Salford after tracing a suspected thief to a house on Duchy Street.

Ar around 2pm on Tuesday 13 October an elderly woman had drawn out cash – thought to be a four-figure sum upwards of £1,000 – from the Halifax Bank on Sutton Way.

She was approached by a man on a bicycle who grabbed the money and made off in the direction of Duchy Street.

The man on the bicycle escaped and police are still searching for him.

But when officers arrived at a house on Duchy Street they sezied cash, along with a ‘large amount’ of drugs.

Residents reported a large police presence – including tactical aid units, police dogs and crime scene investigators.

A second man, age 21, was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed: “A large amount of cash and drugs were also confiscated from the address.

“A police investigation is still ongoing.
