Family-owned discount retailer Home Bargains has posted a substantial spike in profits in its most recent accounts.
In the year to 30 June 2015, the Liverpool-based firm announced profits of £115.1m on an increased turnover of £1.47bn.
It means profits jump by £20m compared to last year’s £95m.
Home Bargains has over 370 stores throughout the UK and has already announced plans to expand to over 700 within the next five years.
Warehouse staff dropped by 10 to 682, but the number of retail staff employed throughout its divisions leapt from 11,098 to 13,043.
The firm more than trebled its charitable donations from £222,938 in 2014 to £724,154 in 2015.
SalfordOnline.com recently revealed plans by the discount brand to make a move from a small store in Eccles to a much larger unit at the West One Retail Park on the outskirts of the town.
Eccles West One change will pave way to major Home Bargains move
TJ Morris Ltd, which trades as Home Bargains, had its plans for a change of use for two units at the shopping mall approved by Salford City Council last week.
Its outlet on Eccles precinct is one of its longest-established, but also one of its smallest, and will close under the plans.
It will join homeware retailer The Range at the revitalised shopping centre.
