Man, 22, arrested for attempted murder after man shot in Bolton


A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was shot in the street in Bolton.

Police launched an investigation after a man was found on Saturday 10 October with a gunshot wound to the stomach on Cannon Street in the town centre.

On Tuesday 20 October 2015, officers from the Serious Crime Division arrested a 22-year-old man.

He remains in police custody for questioning.

Paramedics were called to Cannon Street, off Deane Road in Bolton at 3.45pm on Saturday 10 October.

They found the victim, who is in his 20s, with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

He was treated at the scene before being airlifted to hospital where his condition was described as serious, but not life-threatening.

The shooting was the fourth in a weekend of violence in Salford and Bolton.

On Friday 9 October a 48-year-old man was shot in the back through the front window of a house on Mossbrook Drive in Little Hulton.

On the same day two houses were shot at on Gorse Drive in Little Hulton and at Worlsey Road in Farnworth

There is no suggestion the incidents are linked.

Detective Chief Inspector Ian Crewe of the Major Incident Team said: “We have arrested a man in connection with the shooting in the Cannon Street area of Bolton on Saturday 10 October 2015.

“This investigation is still very much ongoing and we are still keen to speak to anyone with any information about what happened.”
