Salford City FC increased their impressive run of consecutive away victories to 18 at Colwyn Bay, after a last-minute Danny Webber header gave The Ammies three points to bring back to Salford.
The 3-2 win gives Salford another confidence boost as they head towards a mouthwatering draw against Southport this weekend for a place in the first round of the FA Cup.
Despite chaos on the M56 delaying Salford supporters from arriving in Wales, both teams started out with intensity in the first 10 minutes, with end-to-end action quickly culminating in a goal for City just 12 minutes into the match.
Jordan Hulme’s decisive run towards the goal line and cut-back ball opened the shot up for James Poole, who made no mistake in finishing from just a few yards out.
Colwyn Bay equalised on 24 minutes with Luke Denson hitting a low free kick that just squeezed past Ammies’ goalkeeper Jay Lynch’s dive towards the post.
Just two minutes later James Poole bagged his second goal of the game for Salford to move 2-1 ahead after picking up a rebounded shot 14 yards out and cooly converting past the defender.
A sustained attack right before the interval from Colwyn Bay put the pressure on the visitors – who eventually conceded to Lloyd Ellams at the 40th minute-mark.
The second half started with the same energy as the first, with both teams putting pressure on to take the lead. The energy fizzled out by the 70th minute, with both sides looking as they were content with a draw.
This was until the 90th minute where substitute attacker Joe Mwasile surged down the touchline, and curled in a pearler of a cross before fellow substitute Danny Webber converted with a header.
The Ammies now look ahead to a tough inter-Lancashire game with Southport at Moor Lane.
Larger than normal crowds are expected in Kersal as the prospect looms of national coverage for the winner
