On Sunday morning at Stott Lane Playing Fields Beechfield United Under 16’s met local rivals Moorside Rangers Green and stretched their unbeaten Timperley and District Junior League Division 3 unbeaten run to three games thanks to a 4-2 victory. Mason Gregg collected the Man of the Match Award and goalscorers for Beechy who moved up a couple of places in the table were Callum Frier (2) Saul Slater and Elliott Hogben.
Following a 3-0 home win over FC Manchester in the Tameside Football League the Under 15’s Predators went to the top of the JFC Sports Division. Dylan Durose was on target twice in the first half and the Predators were guaranteed the three points when Mitchell McGivern scored the third goal. This was United’s six win on the trot and after the match Jamie Pollitt was named Best Player.
In Round Two of the Challenge Cup the Under 12’s Storm had home advantage against opponents De La Salle Devils. The first half started at a frantic pace with both teams playing some top quality football as they worked hard to find the opening goal.
A combination of tough tackling in midfield and great defending meant that clear cut chances were few and far between. Beechy took the lead after Bobby Anderson easily beat two opponents and finished superbly but De La Salle responded and creating more attractive soccer forced some solid defending from United’s back three of Kai Morris, George Moorhouse and Jordan Booth. The Storm went 2-0 up when a free kick taken by George Moorhouse was met by Billy Wadeson who scored a great headed goal.
United continued to produce some great defending with Miro Marshall making some crucial tackles in midfield plus rescuing Beechy with a vital goal line clearance. At the start of the second half De la Salle were quickly on the attack keeping United in a defensive mode and the crossbar rescued United on a couple of occasions. The match became rather scrappy but the pressure was still on Beechy who dealt comfortably with numerous free kicks and corners awarded to their opponents. Storm got goal number three via a quick counter-attack when Man of the Match Bobby Anderson found himself with a clear run and he chipped the ball over the keeper for 3-0. De La Salle managed to score a deserved consolation goal in the dying seconds.
Beechy Under 11’s Thunder were away to Fives Athletic in the final 1st Round group match of the Challenge Cup. In a tense game Fives Athletic made a great start to the tie and deserved to be two goals up in the opening quarter hour.
Gradually United got their act together and following a tactical change Prince Idusuyi was on target with Thunder’s first goal but Fives hit back not long after then Ishor Badgai got his first goal for the team. Samuel Oludoyi levelled the score just before half time but Fives looked stronger as the second half developed and they added another goal following a corner. Harvey Walker showed great composure and got Beechy back in the match on two occasions. With ten minutes to go a long kick downfield from Beechy keeper Reiss Miller found captain Jake O’Sullivan who produced a stylish finish to give Beechy the lead for the first time in the match. The Fives Athletic keeper made some great saves when United continued to create chances and there was also some impressive defending from Beechy late in the game.
The Under 11’s Storm suffered their first defeat of the season in the Salford and Districts League. Despite a very good all-round performance the Beechy lads lost the match that included a total of five goals. Luke Carr netted Storm’s consolation goal and Finley Share was Man of the Match.
There was a first goal for Beechy for Ronan Mullen in the Under 9’s Typhoon cup win against De La Salle Rangers. Also on target were Sonny O’Brien and Milonga Mututa who both scored two goals. Daniel Hesketh who was a constant threat to the opposition collected the Man of the Match Award.
Once again the Under 9’s Hurricanes needed a penalty shoot-out to decide their latest cup game with Moorside Rangers Yellow. The teams shared six goals at the end of normal time with James Taylor and Dominic Roaden on target for the Hurricanes. The teams Best Player was Harley Mullen.
Prestwich Junior Dragons were the Under 9’s Lightning opponents and Beechy produced a superb team display. Sharing the goals were Sam Henderson, Aaron Worthington, James Williamson, Matthew Corry, William Anderton and David Oludoyi.
In the Under 9’s Cup Tournament United’s Storm team met Moorside Rangers Purple at Beech Farm Playing Fields. James Wharton was voted Man of the Match and goalscorers for Beechy who won the tie were Freddie Jackson, Caden Gibson and Josh McLoughlin.
Faced with a 9am kick-off were the Under 8’s Hurricanes who played a well organised Ladybridge Pumas outfit. Due to holidays Beechy had just five players available but every boy gave 100% throughout the game. Coby McCormack, Jayden Walker and Man of the Match Ashley Tonge scored the goals.
Against a well drilled Flixton Junior Dynamos outfit the Under 8’s Tornadoes didn’t play to their full potential. Star Player Owen Hogben and Joshua Taylor netted goals for the Tornadoes.
Sharing ten goals with Ladybridge Lions were Beechy Under 7’s Hurricanes. In the Development Group Red Division goals for United came via Man of the Match Daniel Robinson, Connor McCormack, Ethan Harris and Lloyd Hiles.
Leading goalscorer Kyle Twigg was on target again for the Under 7’s Storm who were in action against De La Salle. Also helping himself to a goal in this Development Group Green game was Best Player Ellis Adamson.
