CCTV: Dad and boy flee scene after speeding car hits wall

Police have released video footage after a speeding car hit a wall and the driver fled along with his young son in Bolton.

The collision happened at about 4.30pm on Friday 30 October 2015 after police had received reports of a car driving erratically in Bolton and Lancashire, before the car hit a wall on Darwen Road in Bromley Cross.

A man and woman got out of the car, with a small child, and left the scene of the collision.

The car is a blue MG, registration MM03 UGG.

Police believe the driver may have been involved in another collision in Egerton Road near Belmont in Lancashire.

Police have now launched an appeal to trace the driver and have released footage of the car in the moments before and after the collision.

The man is described as white, in his early 20’s, 5ft 8in tall, of stocky build, with a shaved head, and a tattoo on his neck. He was wearing a grey tracksuit.

Police Constable Dave Charnock of Bolton division said: “The footage was taken from a head-cam of a motorcyclist’s helmet and we are keen to trace the people involved in the collision.

“I urge anyone who may know the man driving, or saw the car driving erratically before the collision, to contact police.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 5761, 101, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
