Mum’s horror at half a dead mouse found in bag of supermarket cabbage

A mum from Little Hulton found a dead rodent in a bag of vegetables from a frozen food store in Salford.

Sarah Jane Shields, 27, was shocked to discover the back half of a dead mouse in a bag of sliced cabbage bought from the Little Hulton branch of Farmfoods.

“I was making the tea and started to boil some of the cabbage in a pan, that’s when my friend Joanne noticed something black and furry mixed in with it,” she said.

“I was screaming and heaving, it was disgusting.

“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

“We defrosted the cabbage to get a better look and that’s when we saw all its guts and fur hanging out.

Mum-of-two Sarah took the package back to Farmfoods who said they would investigate.

“My kids are scared to eat vegetables now and when I put them on their plates for tea it just goes untouched. I don’t blame them really, it was just horrible,” she said.

“I didn’t even get an apology from Farmfoods, never mind a phone call.

“I’m even thinking about emptying my freezer and chucking it the food away I’m that disgusted.”

The store manager of Little Hulton Farmfoods told SalfordOnline.com: “We are aware of the complaint and an investigation has been launched.”
