5* Review: Burlesque @ The Lowry, Salford Quays

If you fancy a night of tantalising titillation full of frolics and fun burlesque, this is the show for you.

Burlesque is a unique adult variety show full of mischief and sass but which never slides into vulgarity or sleaze.

Growing in popularity this is a must-see show at The Lowry which would suit hen/stag nights and couples and all who want to be teased and pleased.

The Quays Theatre is transformed into a nightclub setting with low lights and table seating meaning it feels more like a cabaret club – a excellent idea in my opinion. It really does give it that extra special touch.

Lesbian Vampire Queen Rosie Lugosi comperes the evening entertainment and keeps everything running smoothly. Both the acts and audience – I lost count how many times we had to say ‘Yes Mistress’ when commanded – fall in line with her wit and her interaction with everybody is second to none.

As the line up changes frequently there is no programme and as the names were rather flamboyant it’s tricky to recall them all, by what it’s possible to do with a simple hula hoop leaves the audience breathless – and the rendition of Etta James ‘At Last’ left me with goosebumps.

A lot of the content is on the risque side so if you’re easily offended this definitely isn’t the show for you.

If not: shake that booty, twizzle those nipple tassles and enjoy a wonderful night!
