Beechfield United Under 17’s earned themselves a fully deserved 3-3 draw following their home game with Pennine Juniors Black. Forced to use Louis Duff as stand-in keeper United looked slightly below-par in the first half and found themselves 1-0 down at the interval.
A goalmouth scramble developed after a corner early in the second half and unfortunately Beechy conceded a second goal. But displaying real character United reduced the arrears when great play by Tom Stott set-up Man of the Match Sam Bolton and he produced a tidy finish. Keeping the pressure on their opponents Beechy forced some vital defending from an overworked Pennine Juniors defence and United equalised via a spectacular goal by Dylan Wild who after the ball had rebounded back to him off a defender he volleyed it past the keeper from 40 yards.
Oozing confidence Beechy now enjoyed more of the ball but somehow the visitors regained the lead when an unmarked Pennine forward broke the offside trap and put his team 3-2 up. A move worked on in training resulted in a second equaliser for Beechy when following a corner Sam Bolton earned United the draw courtesy of an excellent finish. Jack Williams produced another impressive display for Beechy.
In the Timperley and District Junior League the Under 16’s lost 2-0 away to Broadheath Central Dragons. No official referee was appointed for this Division 3 fixture and his replacement made far too many wrong decisions and this ruined the game. Stand-in keeper Joe Haye was Man of the Match and during one period in the match United had 85% possession of the ball.
Producing a powerful goalscoring performance in the Manchester FA Youth Cup were the Under 15’s Predators. Away at Cadishead Sports in Round 2 Beechy hit double figures as they cruised to an emphatic victory. Sharing the goals were Man of the Match Joseph Lydiate, George Davies, Jamie Pollitt, Robert Boardman, Dylan Meredith and Kieron McCarthy.
At Stott Lane Playing Fields the Under 15’s Tornadoes entertained Mossbank JFC Blues and were 2-0 down at the break. Beechy were the better team throughout this Bolton Bury and District League Section C contest and fought back with goals from Travis Walker, Kieran Alley and Harry Cottrill but it was Mossbank who collected the three points via a 5-3 victory.
Maintaining their unbeaten run were the Under 12’s Storm (9v9) who celebrated a fantastic 5-1 win over Broughton Community. In a very open an attacking game from start to finish both goalkeepers were kept busy in the early stages. It was Broughton who had the best of the chances on offer however Beechy took the lead with a well taken goal from Bobby Anderson and this definitely gave United a real boost because they suddenly looked the better team and got their rewards with a second goal. An outstanding cross by Bobby Anderson found Harry Gartley who brought the ball under control and raced clear before producing a neat and composed finish.
Broughton Community kept attacking non-stop but failed to unsettle United’s defence and Beechy were well on top when the whistle blew for half time. Looking more determined as the second half began Broughton reduced the arrears when some slack defending allowed a forward to ease past three United defenders and score a good goal. It was now Beechy’s turn to deal with some unwanted pressure but United defended superbly with George Moorhouse making crucial clearances and Jordan Booth producing some brilliant ball winning tackles. United’s third goal arrived following an excellent counter-attack and some great skill by Harry Gartley who worked hard to get past the last defender before firing the ball past the advancing keeper.
The goal was a real setback for Broughton who conceded a penalty though their keeper saved the spot-kick. Bobby Anderson made it 4-1 after he dribbled past three opponents to score a brilliant goal from a tight angle and the same player completed his hat-trick and the scoring courtesy of an audacious finish. Broughton had a few attempts to get another goal but United remained in control and they now hold a six point lead at the top of the Division 1 table.
The Under 10’s Tornadoes had a Tournament clash away at Flixton Junior Pumas and looking for another good performance. With no Ben Davies (broken finger) Lewis Wallis retained the keepers jersey and Oliver Lomas was back in the team following a lengthy spell on the injury list. Making a strong start Beechy took an early lead when Jack Fitton found Kayden McLean in acres of space and he coolly slotted the ball through the keepers legs. Flixton Pumas reacted well and the home side were soon back on level terms. The teams were evenly matched and Theo Valentine made some timely challenges as did Jack Fitton to deny Flixton a chance to score a second goal.
At the other end of the pitch Harley Davidson was a constant threat to the Flixton defenders while Adam Wood, Charlie Mulvenna and Oliver Lomas sent some great crosses into the box. In the second half neither side took control although the Tornadoes had far more chances than their opponents. When introduced substitute Harley Kirk made a major contribution and overall this was Beechy’s best display so far this season.
There was another cup victory for the Under 9’s Typhoon against Urmston Town Bears. On a muddy pitch defender Harry Bentley produced a superb Man of the Match performance. Jamie Withington netted a hat-trick, there were a couple of goals for Milonga Mututa plus one each for Sonny O’Brien and Daniel Hesketh who scored his first goal of the season. Beechy held a three goal lead at one stage but they relaxed their grip on the game and Urmston Town levelled the score. Thankfully United had the ability to step up a gear and two more goals secured a deserved win.
Extending their impressive unbeaten run to nine games were the Under 9’s Hurricanes. In the away game at Swinton Tigers two great goals an overhead kick by Dominic Roaden and the other a spectacular finish from Georgi Georgiev guaranteed a Beechy victory. Oliver Coles was Man of the Match for the Hurricanes who played some superb football on a heavy pitch.
Woodbank JFC were the Under 9’s Storm opponents in their Tournament fixture played at Beech Farm and despite a good performance Storm lost the match. On target with goals for Beechy were Best Player Josh McLoughlin and Freddie Jackson.
Having to adapt to an artificial surface were the Under 9’s Lightning’s squad players who had a tough match against Ladybridge Pumas. James Williamson who shared the Man of the Match Award with Aaron Worthington scored a consolation goal for Beechy.
In difficult conditions the Under 8’s Storm had an early kick-off against Swinton Junior Panthers. The prolific Joshua Kilfoyle was on target again with a stunning hat-trick and Oliver Cowley netted the Storm’s other goal. There was an all action display from goalkeeper Jack Hanbury who was named as the teams Star Player.
United’s Under 8’s Tornadoes played South Manchester on Sunday morning and at kick-off both teams looked ready for a hard fought contest. Beechy got the opening goal but South Manchester drew level before the break. The Tornadoes overall performance improved in the second half but they never totally dominated the match because South Manchester always created chances against the run of play. Joel Thorndyke was named Best Player and goalscorers for Beechy were Owen Hogben, Aiden Lawton, Jonathan Lowery and Joshua Taylor.
Beechy Under 7’s Tornadoes had home advantage against Prestwich Junior Buffalo and this exciting contest included twelve goals. On target for United in this Development Group Yellow encounter were Harvey Riva, Blake Kerrigan, Harry Jones and Man of the Match Fletcher Jackson.
In the Development Group Red Division the Under 7’s Hurricanes won an eleven goal thriller with Barr Hill Hearts. Man of the Match Connor McCormack, Lloyd Hiles, Daniel Robinson and Charlie Townley scored the goals.
For their latest Development Group Green fixture the Under 7’s Storm travelled to play Stretford Victoria. The Storm’s leading goalscorer Kylan Twigg scored again and Lucas Harris was voted Man of the Match.
