A car crash on Eccles New Road blocked the Eccles Metrolink line last night after two cars collided near Ladywell.
Fire crews, ambulances and police were called to the junction of Eccles New Road with Stott Lane at around 7.55pm last night, Wednesday 11 November.
It happened at almost exactly the same time as this two-car Higher Broughton crash on the other side of Salford.
A silver Vauxhall Adam and a black Ford Focus had collided, scattering debris across the Metrolink tram lines and forcing the Eccles line to close.
Fire crews were forced to cut the roof from the Vauxhall to free trapped occupants.
A woman in her early twenties, who was treated by paramedics for whiplash and chest pains, was later taken to Salford Royal Hospital with a suspected fractured shoulder.
Police also closed Eccles New Road in both directions for over two hours, turning pedestrians and drivers away from the scene.
A man in his early twenties also suffered chest pains at the scene but did not need hospital treatement
Metrolink engineers closed the line between Eccles and Weaste but as of Thursday morning services are now back to normal.
