Salford City FC are set to face Cumbria side Workington away tomorrow at Borough Park.
Kick-off is at 3pm for the Ammies who have been bang on form recently, despite being knocked out of theIntegro Doodson League cup at the hands of Trafford FC.
The side are still coming down from the high of beating Notts County 2-0 , taking them through to the second round of the FA Cup.
They’ll face Hartlepool, currently 19th in League Two, at Moor Lane on Friday 4 December.
The game will be broadcast live in BBC2 with a 7:55pm kick-off.
Back to this weekend, though, and Salford face close rivals Workington.
The two sides currently take up both the fourth and fifth place on 30 points each in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier Division, with leaders Blyth Spartans nine points clear, so the three points up for grabs could prove vital to Salford’s hopes of being promoted twice in two seasons.
After stand-in goalkeeper Ben Purdham failed to keep out two Trafford goals, it seems likely that co-managers Bernard Morley and Anthony Johnson will bring back Jay Lynch, who made countless stunning saves against Notts County in their recent FA cup victory.
It’s also another chance for striker James Poole to show another star turn after his Man of the Match performance against Notts County.
Salford have won four of their last five league games and so in form terms, the odds seem forever in their favour this weekend.
But could the glamour of the FA Cup prove too much of a distraction for Salford?
Salford’s owners, the Class of 92, said they want to see Salford playing league football within seven years of their dramatic takeover, so the league is clearly their main priority.
We’ll see if they can take the positives through with a full-strength side at Borough Park on Saturday.
