Winter is on the way, so why not get your hat and gloves out of the cupboard and head out to one of these top events in Salford.

The Salford Ice Rink returns – all weekend

They’re calling it the Manchester Ice Rink, but it’s actually in Salford!

At New Bailey on Irwell Street, over the river from Spinningfields, there’s fun and calamity assured as the ice rink returns.

Open from 10am to 9pm all weekend there’s a family-friendly winter wonderland with fairground rides, DJs and other family activities.

Enchanted Christmas Market at MediaCityUK – Friday 13 to Sunday 15 November

This is an event for the whole family to enjoy with a wide range of stalls, food and drinks are available as well as watching performers and live bands on the bandstand stage.

There will also be activities for the children including a giant snow globe where they can have their picture taken, a carousel and lots of Christmas lights.

Time: 11am to 7.30pm. Market closes at 5pm on Sunday

100 Years Ago: Salford at War exhibition – Saturday 14 and Sunday 14 November

This weekend is your chance to visit the Salford War exhibition: with Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day still strong in the memory there’s never been a better time to go.

This free exhibition focuses on local characters throughtout Salford history including including the Broughton poet Winifred Mabel Letts, Ordsall soldier Billy Unsworth, Albert Batty, who served in an ambulance unit and Dr James Niven, who helped fight the Spanish Flu pandemic.

Lowry Outlet Mall Frozen experience – Friday onwards

This week at the Lowry Outlet Mall on Salford Quays visit the ‘Frozen’ experience featuring a snowy walk leading to Elsa’s palace complete with falling snow!

The children can sing along to the soundtrack and meet and greet their favourite characters before the cast perform ‘Let it go’ as a finale.

Performances at: 10.30am, 12noon, 1.30pm, 3pm, 4.30pm.

Tickets £4 per child (with 1 adult going free), additional adults at £4 per person

Digital Salford: Opening the City’s Photo Album exhibition – Saturday and Sunday

This free exhibition has a large selection of photographs of streets and areas that have been requested by the people of Salford.

There are memories and stories inside the exhibition that highlight the important roles the people of the city played throughout the years and how they gave Salford its identity.

Open Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 4pm, Salford Museum and Art Gallery, the Crescent.
