Police have closed Manchester Road in Clifton in both directions after a two-car crash.

Traffic officers were called to the scene at the junction of the main road and Wyndham Avenue at 3.55pm today.

They found a black Renault Clio on its roof after a collision with a Fiat Toledo taxi.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing an elderly man pulled from the Clio in the moments after the accident, but police and paramedics have not reported any serious injuries.

The road has been closed in both directions.

There is no left turn available from Station Road onto Manchester Road.

Further up the street Manchester Road has been closed near the Robin Hood pub while the cars are recovered.

Officers said the closure was likely to last into tonight’s rush hour.
