Man’s body found in River Irwell near Ordsall
Police have not yet been able to identify the body of a man pulled from the River Irwell in Salford today.

Emergency crews including police divers started a search for the man at around 11.50pm last night after a passerby reported seeing a man in the water.

Teams explored the riverbank near Woden Street in Ordsall for around four hours over night but were hamstrung by heavy fog.

They resumed the investigation this morning, until the man’s body was dscovered at around lunchtime today, Tuesday 7 April.

The man has not yet been named.

Police do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Officers have begun a probe to discover his identity and to find out exactly how he ended up in the water.
